Multimedia project for Bydgoszcz Art Centre accompanying the exhibition of sculptures by Stanisław Horno Popławski – the patron of the institution.
The virtual-reality-based application takes you on a journey through the life and work of Stanisław Horno-Popławski. Experience a three-dimensional walk down the path of the artist’s abstractive garden of thought, where sculptures come to life before your eyes, presenting their history carved in stone.
As part of the project, we also reconstructed the artist’s workshop. Based on archive photographs and descriptions, we recreated the sculptor’s place of work and enriched the visualization with his animated figure. During the projection, the viewer can walk around the artist’s workshop in Bydgoszcz and see him working on one of his sculptures.
Sculptures used in the visualization have been 3D modeled in the real object scale. As a standard, we used photographs of existing works from various cities of Poland and photographs from art albums. In order to deepen the immersion, the sculptures are brought to life in the form of an animation. Each of the sculptures is placed in a scenery that corresponds to its time of making and the period in the artist’s biography.
Our studio is responsible for the experience conception and realization but also copywriting the inner voice of the artist based on the original letters and notes of the artist. Read in theatrical manner by the polish actor – Tadeusz Huk – it is an important part of the journey that helps correlate subsequent episodes of Popławski’s art with historical and emotional context.
